I have been a practitioner for 35 years and can give you alot of info on several techniques that I have practiced AND different ways I have heard of others practicing those same techniques!
For instance, if you were to get acupuncture you might imagine laying on a treatment table for that type of energy work and having a practitioner put needles into points on the body.
There are many kinds of Energy Work but in some it is similar to that but with a gentle touch (instead of needles) to balance the energies flowing through those points!
