Rivers of Consciousness-Clinical Practicum Project: Part I

What are “Rivers of Consciousness” Anyway?

Rivers of Consciousness” is a name I have given to the energy pathways in the bodymind that carry out thoughts and emotional energies through the body on an energetic level. These energetic pathways can be accessed by touching points on the head. What follows here is a multiple part series of Blogs that in its entirely makes up my Clinical Practicum Project for Eden Energy Medicine.

Rivers of Consciousness Clearing Patterns from the BodyMind: A Comparison of Effective Protocols

The reason of and purpose of this project is to observe and analyze whether one or the other of these parallel processes/similar protocols is more effective or appropriate in certain circumstances than the other.

  • Donna Eden’s treatment the “Black Pearl Sanctuary” an Eden Energy Medicine Technique
  • Gary Douglas’s Access Consciousness hands on body process “The Bars”.

These powerful “Rivers of Consciousness” are pathways through the body that move and carry information in our emotional as well as our physical bodies.  Each of theses heal on both levels.

The Plan is to observe, compare and contrast the points used as well as procedures and outcomes of the these protocols.  Although each of these treatments has different basis they have numerous commonalities.  Both protocols involve holding individual or combinations of different points on the head. Both work with thoughts and emotions that impact our lives and have a deeply relaxing result. The intention of this project is to show where they converge and diverge and when the choice of one over the other might beneficial.

What binds these techniques together is the great commonality of all that is: energy, space and consciousness. When we touch the body/being of another we are coming into contact with all of these. When we use an energy technique or intervention we are applying a correction to the most tangible, measurable part of the being, the physical body. We do that with the energy of our hands. Even then it is ephemeral at best. Like any activity we can approach it in the simplest most purely mechanical way. Or we can go into it with a deeper knowledge and understanding of the universe we live in. Both are acknowledged here.

What was done – A  history of each protocol, a comparison, and notes on what I observed with each

The Black Pearl Sanctuary, developed by Donna Eden with additions from Sara Allen, PhD, is a treatment protocol using the Neurovascular Reflex points.  Named for its effect on the hypothalamus gland which is called the “Black Pearl” the technique helps to bring vascular support to the hypothalamus to create a deep sense of calm and well-being. By inducing this deeply relaxed state the body’s self-healing capabilities are activated.

Physical Therapist Dr. George Goodheart is frequently known as the father of Applied Kinesiology. In the 1960′s, during a lecture, Dr. Goodheart was demonstrating on a young man and during the demo the young man began having an acute asthma attack. Goodheart had observed a structural anomaly and was preparing to do a cranial adjustment when he noticed a pulsation under his fingers. As he continued to hold it the pulsing grew stronger. In just a short time the patient took a deep breath and the attack subsided and he continued to breathe more easily.  As he did so the physical anomaly (a turned out leg) corrected itself. This led Goodheart to begin to research these Vascular Reflexes. He found that they had already been researched and mapped by California chiropractor Terrence Bennett in the 1930′s.

Dr. Bennett was quite fascinated with what he called Reflex Points.  He was able to correlate the points on the head and torso with increased circulation to specific organs using a fluoroscope. He was so fascinated by the increase of blood flow he saw as he held certain points that he spent hundreds of hours observing the phenomenon.

Although Bennett’s Reflexes were found on the head and the torso Goodheart’s continued research found the most useful points were on the head.  Those we are using in this comparison, now called Neurovascular Reflex points, are an amalgam of the work of these two men and are primarily those on the head.

In Eden Energy Medicine the Black Pearl Sanctuary holds a series of these points in different combinations with the result being deep relaxation, deep de-stressing and balancing multiple energy systems of the body at once.

See me gathering the Info for this in this really SHORT video!
